We can provide ribbons for both near-edge coders (commonly used in high-speed packaging lines) and any flat-head thermal coders if applicable. When you order, we will ensure you get the correct width, length, and core size ribbon that fits your specific machine model. If you’re unsure or don’t see your machine listed, just let us know the make and model – chances are we have a ribbon solution for it. We have yet to encounter a coding printer we couldn’t supply ribbons for, and we’ll double-check compatibility so that the ribbons you receive work seamlessly with your equipment.

A: We offer coding ribbons in all the common sizes and types for packaging coders. Typically, coding ribbon widths range from about 20mm up to 60mm or more, depending on the coder and the size of the code area on your packaging. We stock a wide range of widths to match various machines – from narrow ribbons for small date codes to wider ribbons for larger print areas. Ribbon lengths are usually defined by the coder model (often around 600m to 900m for many TTO machines, but it varies). We supply the standard length rolls for each printer to ensure proper fit (and in some cases, we can provide longer rolls if your machine can take them, to reduce how often you need to change ribbons). In terms of types, we provide both wax-resin coding ribbons (the common choice for most packaging, balancing excellent print quality and good durability) and resin coding ribbons (used when you need extra durability – for example, if codes must resist abrasion, chemicals, or high temperatures on the packaging). If you need a special grade (say, an ultra-heat-resistant ribbon for a particular application), we can source that too. Whatever size or type your coding printer requires, we either have it or can get it for you quickly.

A: No – when you use the appropriate type of coding ribbon for your packaging material, the printed codes should be very resistant to smudging or rubbing off under normal conditions. Our coding ribbons are formulated to bond the ink firmly onto the packaging film. For most common applications (printing date/batch codes on typical food packaging films, wrappers, bags, etc.), a wax-resin coding ribbon will produce crisp, smudge-resistant codes that can withstand typical handling and distribution without issue. If your packages will face more challenging conditions – for instance, a lot of abrasion, significant moisture, refrigeration/freezing, or exposure to chemicals – then we would recommend using a resin coding ribbon. Resin ribbons yield prints with maximum durability that won’t easily scratch off or smear, even on hard-to-mark surfaces like shiny foils or when exposed to harsh conditions. The key is matching the ribbon to the material and environment: we can help advise on the best choice. In general, once a code is printed with our ribbons, it remains clear and intact for the life of the product under normal usage.

A: We understand that a packaging line can’t wait around for consumables, so we strive for very fast delivery. For all standard coding ribbon sizes and grades that we stock (which covers most common machines and applications), we offer next-day delivery within the UK for orders placed by our usual cut-off time. We keep ample inventory of popular coding ribbons precisely so that we can ship immediately when you need them. If your ribbon is a less common size or a special formulation we don’t have on the shelf, we can typically source or produce it quickly – often dispatching within a few days. We also offer services like scheduled deliveries or blanket orders: for example, if you know you’ll use a certain number of ribbons per month, we can set up a standing arrangement to deliver that quantity on a regular schedule.
